Things we are up to!

Now that all of the new seasons are starting our DVR is going CRAZY. Some of my shows, mostly my shows :), and some we watch together. You can probably guess who watches what! I am sure there are even more than are on here, but we were super excited that they are all back!!

Not sure if we will continue to watch Grey's now that Callie likes girls!! YUCK!

And of course I am ALREADY addicted to 90210. Love that Brenda and Kelly are on it!

Erik and I have started reading this book that was recommended on a blog that Leighanne saw. So far it is pretty good. It's about the first black baby adopted by a white couple in New Mexico! We want our children to always know the truth about where they came from and that we have loved them from the moment we laid eyes on them! Will keep you posted on the details.

"July 15, 1968. It is only three months following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the nation is burning. Black and White America are locked in the tense grip of massive change. Into this inferno steps an unsuspecting young White couple. Neither had truly known even a single African American person while growing up. Now, a child will change all of that forever. In this fateful moment, a Black baby becomes perhaps the first in the history of New Mexico to be adopted by a White family. Here is a brazenly honest glimpse into the mind and heart of that child, a true story for the ages that flows like a soulful river-separated from his mother at birth, placed into foster care, adopted, and finally reunited with his biological family in adulthood-an astounding journey of personal discovery. Jaiya John has opened the floodgates on his own childhood with this piercing memoir. Black Baby White Hands, a waterfall of jazz splashing over the rocks of love, pain and the honoring of family. Magically, this book finds a way to sing as it cries, and to exude compassion even as it dispels well-entrenched myths. Destined to become a classic, this stirring account is sure to find itself well worn, stained by tears, and brushed by laughter in the lap of parents, adolescents, educators, students, and professionals. Here comes the rain and the sunshine, all at once."

Baby Pace

This was a session I did for my friend Christy and her husband Zach. Here is a sneak peak of your images! (I think you can right click on the image and save it to your computer and put them on your blog. If not I will email them to you)
Christy used to live in Boerne and she was my hairdresser! Oh how sad I was the day she and her family moved to Lubbock. All you ladies out there know how hard it is to find a hair dresser. I drove back and forth to Abilene for the first 4 years we lived here in the hill country!! Anyway here are some shots from her session! Pace is 3 months old and has the most BEAUTIFUL blue eyes! She found this AWESOME croched hat on ETSY. It was so CUTE!!

Erik's Birthday!!

Today is Erik's Birthday! Happy 34th! (I think) Just thought I would post a few things that we love about him!
1. he always gets up to feed the babies breakfast in the morning
2. he always does the dishes :) I HATE to do the dishes
3. he encourages me all the time
4. he always offers to go back and get something if I forgot it (or if he forgot it :) )
5. he loves to shop...not sure if that's a good thing or not...ha ha
6. he loves our babies and never complains about having to keep them all by himself and I NEVER have to worry about leaving them alone with him, because he is such a good dad!
7. he still opens the door for me, even after 6 years of marriage
8. he always says 'I'm sorry' first, (i'm not very good at that..i admit it)
9. he hardly EVER tells me 'no'.... (he might regret that)
10. he tells me I am a good mom
11. he also almost ALWAYS fills my car up with gas!!
WE LOVE YOU and hope you have a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday Erik!!

Adoption Granted!!!

Yesterday, SEPTEMBER 12, 2008, we adopted Isaac and Hadleigh! We went to the courthouse around 9:30 am to sign papers etc. It was a "Mass Adoption": meaning that there were 52 children being adopted at the same time! Isaac and Hadleigh both fell asleep before it even started. Once they started talking on the microphone, Hadleigh woke up, but Isaac slept through the WHOLE thing! Our lawyer spoke and told about what was going to happen and that San Antonio is #1 in the NATION in adoptions. Once the judges came in we all had to stand and be sworn in. Then they called out the parents names one by one and the parents would stand and they would say how many children you were adopting. One lady was adopting 5 children!!!! It started about 10:40 and we were done about 11:10!! Then we all stood in line to have our picture made with the judges. After that, my mom and brother and Erik and the babies and I went to eat lunch! My brother Nick had to be at work at 3:30 so he and my mom left after lunch. We all took a nap & then went to eat dinner!! We were all so exhausted we went to bed early!!

ADOPTION GRANTED!!!
CPS had a party after the adoption with cupcakes, candy and gave all the kids a stuffed animal! These are the puppies they got! We did not stay to eat cupcakes! Opted to eat mexican food instead!
